Dr. Balachandra G is Diabetologist currently based in Bangalore, where he practises six days a week at the Shree Dhanvanthari Diabetes and Maternity Care Centre at Rajajinagar. He holds MBBS and MD degrees, and a Graduate Diploma in Diabetes Care (Australia) as his qualifications.

After his post-graduation, Dr. Balachandra worked as Physician at the Gopala Gowda Memorial Hospital in Mysore. He also had varied experience in teaching, having held positions of Lecturer in Medicine, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor at the Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar. He then moved to the Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, where he was Professor and Head of the Department (HOD) of Medicine. He joined BGS Global Institute of Medical Studies, Bangalore, in Jan 2013, where his titles are Diabetologist, Professor and HOD of Medicine.

Dr. Balachandra G has also been involved in community service over the years. He has conducted more than 100 rural camps for detection of diabetes and treatment, improving awareness about lifestyle modification, foot care and diet modification. He is also credited with having established and headed the Diabetology department and initiated the Genome project at the RL Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre.

Dr. Balachandra has been an active member of the RSSDI Karnataka Chapter (Treasurer), Bangalore Diabetes Club (Joint Secretary) and IMA Club Bangalore. He has attended some 40 conferences and actively participated in about 30 of them.

In his spare time Dr. Balachandra enjoys reviewing literature, going on long scenic drives and painting. He is proficient with working on the computer, and has a keen interest in sports, philately and numismatics. He also likes travelling to various places and interacting with new people and cultures.
